Community Brands Deepens Background Screening Capabilities with New Acquisitions

Company acquires AmericanChecked, Shield Screening and U.S. Information Search and strengthens volunteer, employment and tenant screening operations

January 29, 2019—ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.— Community Brands, the leading provider of cloud-based software for associations, nonprofits, schools and faith-based organizations, today announced the acquisition of AmericanChecked, Shield Screening and U.S. Information Search. In addition to its volunteer screening, the company’s background check capabilities will now include industry-leading employment and tenant screening.

The company’s screening business continues to experience rapid growth through new customers, repeat sales, and company acquisitions. The newly-acquired companies and their respective services immediately strengthen the comprehensive background check business of Community Brands. The company also adds organizations that hold Background Screening Agency Accreditation Program (BSAAP) accreditation offered by the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS). BSAAP accreditation is the industry standard, awarded to organizations that uphold the highest standards of background screening.

The additional screening capabilities complement volunteer solutions currently used by the company’s association, nonprofit, church and school clients. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than 62 million individuals volunteer in the United States. A more complete set of screening services will be offered to these current customers; in tandem, the company is adding new customers like corporations, small businesses, government organizations and tribal entities.

Each of these transactions has closed, and financial details of the acquisitions have not been shared publicly.
